Michelle and Samantha are sisters — and between them, they've turned a shared love of baking into something genuinely lovely. Based in North Devon, Old Parlour Bakes specialises in homemade wedding cakes, bespoke sweet treats and beautifully presented baked boxes for couples on their wedding day.
In Michelle's own words:
"I'm Michelle, and together with my sister Samantha, I run Old Parlour Bakes. We're a family-run business creating beautiful homemade cakes and bakes for weddings, celebrations and special occasions across North Devon."
For Michelle and Samantha, it's never just about the cake. It's about being part of something that matters.
"What we love most about working in the wedding industry is being able to play a small part in such an important day. Every couple has their own story and style, and it's a privilege to create something personal for them. Whether it's a wedding cake, a selection of sweet treats or one of our bespoke baked boxes, there's something really special about knowing our bakes are helping people celebrate and create memories together."

Their Favourite Time of Year for Weddings
We asked Michelle and Samantha when they think Tree Top Escape is at its best. Their answer was an easy one:
"If we had to choose a favourite time of year, it would probably be late spring or early autumn. The countryside looks beautiful, the light is amazing, and the venue has a lovely calm feel during those seasons."
We can't argue with that — though it's worth saying that our couples have said exactly the same about January mornings, summer evenings, and every season in between.
Their Advice for Couples
Having worked with so many couples over the years, Michelle and Samantha have a clear sense of what makes a wedding day work — and their advice is refreshingly straightforward.
"Try not to get too caught up in what you think a wedding should be and focus on what feels right for you as a couple. The most memorable weddings are always the ones that reflect the personalities of the people getting married."
On the food and cake side:
"When it comes to food and cake, choose things you genuinely love. Trends come and go, but your guests will always remember something that tastes delicious and that means something to them."
And perhaps the most important reminder of all:
"Most importantly, take time to enjoy the day. It passes incredibly quickly, so make sure you pause occasionally and take it all in."
