We got engaged in June 2018 in Bude on my birthday after almost 9 years together. We were on a family holiday and staying at a place called Wooda farm which was special to me as a child and I had stayed their many times before so it was really special to be there with our children and to get engaged there too.
We had decided that we wanted a small wedding with just our three children and close family. We wanted somewhere intimate and special and in this country so I typed elopement weddings UK into Google. TTE came up and I instantly knew it was the perfect place for us to get married. We were just blown away from the minute we saw it and we loved the whole concept.
A five star luxury romantic tree house situated high up amongst the stunning views of the estate and Devon countryside. The nest for the intimate ceremony literally blew me away and I couldn’t quite believe that I could be saying my vows to the man I love with all of my closes family in such a magical place. From my very first conversation with Collette and booking our wedding everything was made so easy and Collette responded superfast each time I emailed her with questions and was a great help. She was always happy to help and only a phone call or email away.
It was so easy to choose the right people for our special day as there was a list of recommended people for all of your requirements and needs and anything was possible for our special day.
I woke up bright and early the morning of our wedding and took in the breath taking views from the huge window in the master bedroom which just framed the landscape perfectly. Whilst I enjoyed some breakfast on the balcony I caught a glimpse of my cake being delivered to the nest by Mrs Smudger’s kitchen. I was so excited. At 9am the doorbell rang and I was greeted by Heather Eales’s the florist with my stunning flowers. These were made up of beautiful pale pinks and creams with natural green foliage which was the colour theme four our wedding. Not long after Cathy also arrived to do our hair and make-up. My sister was with me on the morning of the wedding as she had stayed with me the night before. I hadn’t had a make-up or hair trial previous to my wedding as we are from the North west of England so this wasn’t possible but Cathy was amazing and did and incredible job of us both and it was exactly as I had imagined it to be. Next Rebecca Roundhill arrived who was our photographer for the day. She was so lovely and we felt comfortable from the second she arrived and hardly knew she was there at times. As we were getting ready we were greeted by Sam the wedding coordinator who wanted to introduce herself and run through some of the finer details for the day. She made me feel relaxed and I knew we were in good hands and that the day would be perfect. Sam had umbrellas at the ready as requested by myself as on the day of our wedding Storm Gareth has decided to pay us a visit. This didn’t affect any of the day as everything was in close proximity and we had plenty of helpers on hand to assist us. As we finished getting ready we were greeted also by the talented Marcia Shapland who dressed the nest with the stunning dried flowers and beautiful accessories for our ceremony. She was also on hand to help throughout the day as there was 15 of us in total. Sam brought my dad and bridesmaids over to the tree house as guest were assembled in the nest ready for our ceremony. As I arrived at the nest accompanied by my dad who gave me away everyone was waiting and the music we had chosen was playing and I saw my husband to be standing there under a beautiful frame of pink and cream flowers in front of the glass bifold doors that showed off the most incredible view or the lake. It was just so magical it was hard to believe that it was actually happening. It really was a dream come true.
After the ceremony we had some photographs taken in the nest and around the grounds and we enjoyed a champagne toast and canapés in the beautiful meadow room with our family. We had also decided to have Buttercup a vintage ice cream van from Tennacott dairy farm at our wedding as our children love ice cream. Needless to say this was big hit with all of our family and it looked amazing at our wedding. We also were lucky enough to have some photos taken inside the van. Sam the owner of Buttercup was lovely and nothing was too much trouble. Afterwards we enjoyed fine dining in the nest which we chose Gary Shapland for. Gary worked with us to create our own bespoke menu in the lead up to the wedding and the food on the day was incredible and simply to die for. The nest was dressed once again for our wedding meal by Marcia and yet again blew me away by how stunning the nest looked as we walked in.
Both Gary and Marcia along with the two another waitresses who assisted them were amazing and the entire evening brought our food out and were promptly and were five star service. After our meal we enjoyed some wine and celebrated in the nest for a while before our guests had all left. Myself and my new husband Neil then went back to the tree house and poured ourselves a glass of champagne each and relaxed in the incredible hot tub on the balcony under the stars as we reflected on our special day. It truly was the most amazing day of our lives next to the birth of our children. We were both in a whirl wind and so happy. Everything was perfect from start to finish and really was a dream come true for us both. The place exceeded all our expectations and was even more beautiful in real life. I just cannot wait to return for our anniversary and who knows maybe even vowel renewal in years to come.
If I could give any advice to anyone wondering how or where to get married it would honestly have to be Tree top escape every time. I could never imagine ever getting married at a more perfect or more beautiful or breath taking or magical location. It’s like you’re dreaming from the moment you arrive until the day you leave and in the weeks after. Anyone looking for a small, intimate wedding either by themselves or with close family or with their children this is the perfect place to do it. I’d love to re live our wedding day over and over again it was everything i could have ever wished for and I don’t think I have the right words to describe how I feel about Tree top escape or our special day other than I have beautiful memories that will last a life time and I cannot wait to return.
