Lucy and James celebrated their Intimate wedding with their nearest and dearest at the Tree Top Escape in September 2017.
James and I went to Walt Disney World Florida in October 2015. I have a huge passion for Disney and we both love the USA. It was the perfect holiday destination! The second night we were there, we went to the World Showcase fireworks display at Epcot. The Disney songs were playing and fireworks were exploding into the skies (I was already emotional from all of this!) and to my total surprise, James got down on one knee and proposed to me! He is my best friend so I was over the moon with excitement to marry him and begin to plan our wedding.
I knew from the start that I wanted a ‘different’ kind of wedding. I didn’t know what I was looking for until I found it! I remember typing in ‘intimate weddings’ into Google and to my surprise, I stumbled across the website for Tree Top Escape. We are both originally from the Forest of Dean and felt that the countryside that surrounds the estate, made us feel at home. The photos showed how luxurious and modern the accommodation was, and we are huge fans of tree houses. We also knew that we wanted a low-key wedding, and by being able to keep it intimate and inviting just our parents, it felt right. It was the perfect fit – as if Tree Top Escape had been built for us!
Our wedding day was the best day of our lives. Waking up in the master bedroom to the view of the autumn trees was the perfect way to begin our day. Our favourite songs played throughout every room and we danced the morning away!
The day went smoothly with thanks to our wedding co-ordinator Collette Short. Nothing was too much trouble for her. Our parents were blown away by the beauty of the estate and the views from The Meadow Room. After a visit from our Registrars, the ceremony began. My father held my hand as we walked across the bridge and he gave me away to ‘Tale as Old as Time’ from Beauty and the Beast, an homage to our love of all things Disney. James’ look of joy when I walked into the room was captured perfectly by our photographer Becca Roundhill who, throughout the day, was amazing. The view of the Devonshire countryside from The Nest provided an incredible backdrop for the ceremony and proved to be even more beautiful than we ever hoped for. During the exchanging of rings, James’ father acted as ring-bearer, presenting our rings in our Beauty and the Beast ring box, something that we will both never forget! Following an intimate reception in the nest, Becca took James and I to the lake to take some photos using the trees as an enchanted backdrop. We decided to use smoke bombs to add an air of mystery to the photos which made us feel like we were in a Tim Burton film!
After saying goodbye to our guests, we returned to our accommodation to sample some of our ‘Happily Ever After’ vegan wedding cake, which was delicious. That evening we enjoyed private dining in The Nest which was transformed into a warm and intimate dining area, complete with our personalised soundtrack and beautiful mood lighting. Our meal, cooked by our chef Gaz, was incredible. With our set menu requested in advance, the food looked and tasted fantastic! After the meal, James and I took a dip in the hot tub to celebrate with the moon and stars as our only company.
We specialise in Intimate weddings therefore we are quite biased but we would highly recommend you consider something less traditional and more personal before going down the route of the lavish big wedding
